A Place Beyond: the first week
Well, it has been a week since starting my new novel, "A Place Beyond", and I'm almost at the 30,000 mark. It's a wonderful thing to see the muse at work.
There are two types of novels I never wanted to write: vampire and werewolf. Aah, the old tropes. I thought this new novel was going to be about human trafficking with aliens but oh how wrong I was.
It's loosely based on the werewolf legend. There are two startling characters in this novel called Red (full name Redmond) and Gein (full name Geinerman). This is where it gets exciting. The names seemed familiar. Yesterday, I looked up a number of combinations and it immediately struck me when I saw the name of the infamous serial killer "Ed Gein" (Red Gein). All us horror heads know that name. Very influential in modern psycho movies. If you've never heard of him, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gein
Who knows how this muse of ours works. I was nodding off on the train yesterday. I don't know if I had a microsleep or not, but when I came too, I was still typing, and what I wrote made complete sense. Freaky.
